What to include in your request
The more specific the request, the more accurate the price. Include:
- Each product, with the grade, size or variety you need
- Quantity per shipment and how often you will order
- Packing: pack size, carton type and any private labels
- Destination port or airport
- Preferred Incoterm (for example FOB or CIF) and currency
- Air or sea freight, if you already know
Why quotes have a short validity
Prices for fresh vegetables and fruit move with harvests, weather and demand, sometimes day to day. That is why export quotes for fresh produce carry a date and a short validity period. If a quote expires, ask for a new one based on the current market rather than expecting the old price to hold.
How Incoterms change the price
The same product can be quoted very differently depending on who pays for each step:
- FOB — price up to loading at the Indian port or airport; you arrange the main freight.
- CFR — includes main freight to your port; you arrange insurance.
- CIF — includes main freight and minimum insurance to your port.
Comparing quotes fairly
When comparing exporters, line up the same grade, pack size, Incoterm and validity date. A lower price on a smaller pack, a lower grade or a different Incoterm is not a like-for-like saving.
On NKS Exports product pages you can request today's export price directly: choose the quantity, destination and currency, and we reply with a dated quotation.
